Good to know

Best time

Go early — the fort opens around 9 AM — to beat the heat and the crowds.

Climb cutoff

Entry to the hill climb usually stops around 3 PM for safety; do the trek in the morning.

Carry

Water, a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes with grip. There are no restaurants inside.

Fitness

The Rajagiri climb is steep and takes about an hour up. Not ideal for very young children, the elderly, or anyone with mobility issues.

Watch for

Monkeys can be bold near the paths — don’t carry food in the open.

Easier alternative

Prefer not to climb Rajagiri? Do the base loop plus Krishnagiri, which is shorter.

Timings, the climb cutoff and entry fees are set by the Archaeological Survey of India and can change — please confirm locally before you travel.
